* I have heard that Nicholas Gibson was captured by Indians during the Yellow Creek Massacre in 1774, in which his mother and some of his siblings were killed. I've never been able to verify the story. In trying to research it, I kept running into references to "Five Years With the Indians, as Told By One of the Captives" -- but I've never been able to find that book or document or whatever it was. Well, guess what ... today I found it!! It was written by one of Nicholas Gibson's grandchildren and posted to FamilySearch by one of the writer's grandchildren. I'm so excited!
