I have a lot of bad memories from the five years we lived in that house. But some good ones, too. These are some of the good ones.

Rosa Court, the boys

 Here are some pictures of Christopher and Casey when we lived at Rosa Court.

This is a turtle they found in the back yard.

We had a different kind of turtle also in the back yard -- gopher tortoise, which is a protected species. They live in underground burrows (hence the name "gopher").

There was that one semester when we tried homeschooling.

The quilt on Christopher's bed was made by Grandma (Cleffie) Burford -- his great-grandmother. (See photo below)

George and Me

 Here are a few more pictures of my dog George. These were taken at Christmas of 1994 when Mom and Dad were visiting. George loved my dad, of course. All dogs loved him. (I honestly don't know of anyone -- man or beast -- who didn't love my dad.)

His "bed" was next to mine, and he slept like this.

My Dog George

 In December 1994 I got a dog. There were some people at church who had a dog show up in their yard and they couldn't find out who he belonged to. They already had two or three dogs, and didn't want another one, but they hated to take him to the pound. There was a church Christmas party one evening and they were telling everyone at the party about this dog, hoping someone would go and rescue him. Well, I had just been thinking about getting a dog. So I went to the animal shelter the next day and got him. I named him George. 

I sure do miss him.

Arkansas, Family Reunion

I've already posted a lot of pictures from the Arkansas folder of family photo negatives. Here are some I don't think I've posted before. These were taken at the annual Carter/Arnold family reunion, I don't know what year -- probably around 2000 or so.

PHOTO: The man is Alvis Jackson (Calvin's brother). The woman in red I think is Ruth Carter. She was a second cousin to Cleffie. The other two women I believe are the same ones in the photo above.

Rosa Court

 In 1990 we moved from Thompson Hall Road to Rosa Court, about 10 miles out in the country from Fairhope. The reason we moved there is because my parents had purchased a piece of property for their retirement. It was 3 acres of pine woods with a creek at the back. There was a mobile home on the property, and they wanted us to move into it and live there (rent-free) until they retired (which was planned for 1997). It sounded like a good idea at the time.

Here are some of the pictures we took during the 5 years we lived there. (Ultimately, Mom and Dad decided not to retire in Alabama after all. They sold the property in 1995 and bought a house in Michigan.)

Oak Haven Cottages

 In 1986 my grandmother moved from Arkansas to California to live with my parents. We were living in Alabama, and we went to Arkansas to bring Grandma to our house where she stayed for three weeks until Mom and Dad could come from California to get her and take her home with them. While they were here, they stayed at Oak Haven Cottages in Fairhope. These pictures were taken there.
