 Jay Bridges was born 18 January 1925


Jay was the husband of Bernice Hicks
They were married 10 February 1945. (They later divorced.)

Jay and Bernice had three children: Shelby, Gregory, and Cindy
Gregory died at birth 13 July 1950

Cindy married (and later divorced) Irving Turner

Cindy married Dale Haigler

For a while, Cindy and Dale had a drive-thru hamburger stand in Benton Harbor: The Neon Grill.
They later made a career of remodeling houses.

Shelby married Beverly Zielke

Shelby and Beverly had two children: Stephen and Gregory

OBIT: Jay E Bridges Fondly known as Jay-Bird, died at home peacefully on March 15th, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 18th, 1925 in Cardwell, MO and spending his youth in the South, Jay moved to Michigan when he was 18 and then to San Rafael in 1959. Jay was in the automobile business in Marin for over 53 years. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Susan Bella Bridges, sons Shelby (Beverly) and Rob, and daughters Cindy (Dale Haigler) and Gina (Allen Borland); six grandchildren, Steve (Beth), Greg (Brittney), Gabriella, Mikaela, Colton, Dillion and six great grandchildren, Hallie, Lauren, Kyle, Carson, Caroline, Haiden and numerous nieces and nephews. Jay was a complete outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, cooking and BBQing with his family. A memorial Service followed by a reception will be held on Sunday March 18th, at 3:00 PM at Valley Baptist Church, 3 North San Pedro Rd. in San Rafael. He will be truly missed.
