On This Day in Family History - January 8

 

Justine Gruening Till died 08 January 1907, age 62

Justine was the wife of Carl Till. Carl and Justine were both born in Rozyszcze, Volhynia, Russia (now Ukraine). They were married in 1869 in Russia, and all five of their children were born in Russia. Their oldest child was August Carl Friedrich Till, born in 1875.

August and Augusta had six children. Their 3rd child, Leonard Till, married Madge Treat. Madge was a sister to my grandmother Christie Treat Thomas. (So the Till family is not related to me by blood, but by marriage.)

This is how I remember them. They lived in Bangor, Michigan, the same town we lived in when I was a small child, so I knew them well.

Madge and Leonard's son Ralph was my dad's cousin, and they had a very close relationship. Ralph lived with my dad's family part of the time when he was growing up. They were always very close, even into their old age.

Massie Treat was the mother of Ray, Christie, and John. Bernarde and Richard were Christie and Bill's children. Mabel was John's wife. (Ralph's mother Madge was a sister to Christie and Ray and John. She may have been the one who took the picture.)
