On This Day in Family History - January 17

Joseph Pinkney Hicks ('Uncle Pink') was born 17 January 1871

(Ulysses was my great-grandfather)

Uncle Pink was the son of John Henry Hicks and Malisa Evaline Burns Hicks

Joseph Pinkney Hicks married Ann Mirah VanWinkle and they had six children: Jack, Travanion, Herbert, Violet, unnamed baby boy (presumably stillborn or died at birth), and Bessie.

A note on Travanion Hicks, by Cleffie Burford -- Travanion was a few months old, playing on the floor. The adults were eating popcorn or nuts (something like that) and a piece got dropped onto the floor and they didn't know it. Travanion got it and choked on it. That's how he died.

Bessie and Jack were children of Pinkney Hicks.

That's Ulys on the right, and 'Mr Moore' on the left (I don't know who he is)
This was cropped from a larger picture labeled 'Herbert Hicks' garage, Bald Knob, Arkansas, 1924'

I don't have any pictures of Violet Hicks (that I know of)
