MEMORIAL TO...

Eulene Estel Carter Daugherty 1919-2005

Eulene was the daughter of John Martin Carter and Amy Tamsett Carter

Here is a group picture of Birdie Arnold, Annie Arnold Hicks, and Amy Tamsett Carter with their children. Eulene is in front, standing to the right of her mother. Her siblings Ned, Vada, Agnes, Ollie, and Elmer, are also in the picture. This photo would have been taken around 1922 or 1923.

Eulene married Ray Isaac Daugherty in 1938

They had two children: Ray Junior Daugherty (Junior was his middle name), and Lowell Glenn Daugherty. I don't have a picture of Lowell, but I do have a picture of Ray Junior, which I was able to obtain just today from the Find A Grave website. As far as I know, Ray Junior is still living. Lowell passed away in 2007.

I have the following information, from Ray Junior, about Ray Isaac Daugherty's funeral:
"Ray died [in Indiana] on February 26, 1965, and was buried on March 4, 1965.  We had two funerals for him. One in Indianapolis where he had owned a garage for many years and had many friends, and then another graveside at Pine Grove [Arkansas] where he was buried. We lived on Wilson Road when he died and the snow was about 4 feet deep. A farm hand that worked for Mr. D. Brown cleared the road with a grader so we could get home from the hospital after he died. He was taken to Batesville, Arkansas, by train and from there he was taken to Pine Grove for burial. It was snowing in Arkansas, also."
