(I've seen his middle name as Smith, but I've also seen it with the middle initial H.)

This marriage forms the connection between the Gard and Gibson branches of the family tree. We can trace the Gards back to 1539 in Devonshire, England. Our family records for the Gibsons go back as far as 1540 in Lancashire, England. [According to FamilySearch, the Gibson family traces all the way back to ... (wait for it) ... ADAM. Well, I don't know about that.]

Asa Gibson and Adaline Lucretia Gard had fifteen children:

Cora 1870-1877 (died age 7)
Clara 1872-1872 (died age 5 days)
Anna Gertrude 1873-1943
William Minter 1875-1946
Dora 1877-1962 (twin)
Lora 1877-1971 (twin)
Lawrence Elmer 1880-1964
Twin infants 1881-1881 (died age 2 days)
Calder 1883-1897 (died age 14)
Iva Jane 1885-1953
Stella Frances 1888-1968
Julia Grace 1890-1986
Edna Elsie 1892-1987
Oma 1898-1898 (died age 2 months)

My connection with the Gard/Gibson clans is my great-grandmother Lora Gibson, who married Alexander Oscar Burford.
