Nancy Ellen Hicks was born 05 May 1874

Nancy (sometimes called 'Nannie') was the sister of my great-grandfather Ulysses Hicks.

Nancy Hicks married George Woodson Sandefur

They had two children, daughters Viola and Mae.

Malisa was Nancy's mother.

Viola Sandefur married William Solomon and they had one child, a daughter Nora. William died less than 2 years after they were married, but Viola never married again.

Nora Solomon married Bill Wright, and they had six children - Billy, Bobby, Dennis, Nancy, Debbie, and Rodney. 

Mae Sandefur married Carter Lewis Ceilco Weatherford. They had a son Carter W. Weatherford. Ceilco Weatherford died of a gunshot wound in 1946 -- recorded as a homicide on his death certificate. He and Mae were apparently divorced before then, for his death certificate lists his wife as 'Gracie Weatherford'. The 1940 census lists Mae as a widow -- which is probably what she told the census taker, rather than admit to being divorced. Carter was 4 years old at the time.

I don't have a picture of Mae as an adult, and I don't have any pictures of her husband or son.
