May 13

Wilma Vernice Arnold Reed died 13 May 1984, age 68

Wilma was one of "Uncle George's girls" -- the daughter of George Ned Arnold.
George was a brother of my great-grandmother Annie Arnold Hicks.

George had 13 children, 11 of whom were girls. He had 8 children with his first wife Jessie Tamsett, and 5 children with his 2nd wife Eula Mae Burnett.

(Doyne became related to our family by marriage -- He married the sister of Ben Jackson, husband of Etta Arnold. Etta was a sister of George Arnold...)

Wilma Arnold married Elvin Reed in 1930. (She was 14, he was 16.)

Wilma and Elvin had only one child, that I'm aware of -- a daughter, Stella.

Wilma and Elvin were divorced in 1944.

Elvin married Imogene Qualls.
Imogene was the twin sister of Maxine Qualls, who married Wilma's cousin Ned Carter.

So, are you beginning to see why my mom said the Arnold and Carter families were so intertwined that she couldn't separate them?
