Burford Ancestors - Generation 5 - LaNorma Flo Burford

LaNorma Flo Burford was born 29 September 1929.

She was the daughter of Deb and Florence Burford

Notes from Bob Burford:
LaNorma became a big band vocalist and travelled the circuit all over. She had a strong, spectacular voice.

Note from Morris Burford:
LaNorma had a voice that could project to fill any arena--no microphone needed, and with no loss of quality.

LaNorma Burford married...

Well, according to Social Security records (NUMIDENT) LaNorma registered for SS card under the following names:

Lanorma Flo Burford - Feb 1945
Lanarma F Casper - May 1947
Lanorma Flo Purvis - Jun 1949
Lee Flo Purvis - Apr 1953
Lee Flo Olson - Nov 1953
Lanorma McAfee - Mar 1973
Lee Flo McAfee - Feb 1977
I have found the records of her marriage to Claude David Casper and Donald Earl McAfee. I have not found records for her marriage to a Purvis or Olson.

LaNorma married Claude David Casper 02 May 1947

married unknown Purvis sometime before June 1949

married unknown Olson sometime before November 1953

married Donald Earl McAfee 25 May 1961

I have not found any records indicating that LaNorma had any children, however her gravestone is inscribed "Mom -- one of a kind"

Now here's a little story my mother wrote about LaNorma. I'll let you decide for yourselves whether you think it's true or not --

I haven't even seen LaNorma for about 500 years and she could have got old during that time and maybe lost some of her off-the-wallness but I seriously doubt it.  She's the one who joined up with her equally crazy brother (Bud) to drown their mother in the bathtub one time.  They had the bathtub full of water, and they had ahold of Florence and were heading for the bathroom with her when somebody came in the front door and caught them.  Florence wasn't as big as a minute and couldn't help herself a bit....

LaNorma died in May 1987, age 57. She is buried in Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia.
"Well I'm here thanks to nobody else but me!"
