Hazel was the daughter of Alvero Herdman
Alvero was the son of John Downing Herdman
Well, the Herdmans are only tangentially related to our family -- but for some reason I have a lot of pictures of various members of the Herdman lineage. The only real connection to our family is the marriage of Ulysses Grant Herdman to Belle Treat. Aunt Belle was the sister of my great-grandfather Marcus Treat.

Hazel Opal Herdman Grooms was a 3rd cousin to Ulysses. (They had a common great-great-grandfather, Henry Herdman.)
