Arnold Ancestors - Generation 4 - Opie Harriet Arnold

Opie Harriet Arnold was born 19 September 1917, Banner, Cleburne County, Arkansas

Well, most of the pictures I would post here would be the same ones I posted yesterday -- of Opie and her twin sister Obie. I do have a couple pictures of Opie by herself...

And I have one picture of Opie with Elmer Reed. (More about him later...)

Opie Arnold married Hershel Dean Tatum.

I don't have a picture of Opie and Hershel together.

I don't know for sure that this is Hershel Tatum. 

The back of this photo says "Sylvia and Hershel"

Sylvia (Arnold) is a cousin of Obie and Opie and Cleffie ... and 'em. I don't know of anyone else related to the family named Hershel. So I'm taking a little leap of faith and assuming this Hershel is the same one who was Opie's husband. It was a very small community, up there in that Ozark hill country...

What I did discover is that Hershel Tatum is a half-brother of William Earl Tatum, who was the husband of a Carter cousin -- Lovada. (Lovada was a daughter of John Martin Carter, brother of Adaline Carter Arnold...)

Not only that, but Hershel Tatum's mother -- Sudie Ann Davidson -- was a sister of Obie's husband Vernie Davidson.

Well, anyway...

Opie and Hershel had seven children:

iii. Annetta Lee Tatum 1941-  

iv. Brenda Joice Tatum 1945-

      v. Hershel Dean Tatum, Jr. 1951-  

vi. Stephen Keith Tatum 1952-

vii. Ronald Lynn Tatum 1959-

I don't have pictures of any of them.

Opie Arnold Davidson died 13 August 1997.

Hershel died in 1976.
