Arnold Ancestors - Generation 4 - Bertha Lee Arnold

Bertha Lee Arnold was born 22 January 1938 in Banner, Cleburne County, Arkansas

Bertha Lee was the last of Uncle George's thirteen children.. (For some reason, when I typed that I heard Cleffie's voice saying "the least 'n".) 

Bertha Lee Arnold married (1) Verlin Hightower 23 May 1955 in Bradford, Jackson County, Arkansas, He was born 30 July 1927 in Cushman, Independence County, Arkansas, and died 08 September 1993 in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas. (I don't have a picture of Verlin Hightower.)

Bertha Lee and Verlin Hightower had two children: Denver and Donna. (NOTE: Denver was born when Bertha Lee was just 13 years old, as a result of incest committed upon Bertha Lee by her stepfather Fred McKinney. Denver was four years old when Bertha Lee married Verlin Hightower, and Verlin adopted him.) I don't have a picture of either of Bertha Lee's children.

Bertha Lee Arnold married (2) Amos Averill. He was born 08 August 1932, and died 26 June 1990 in Arkansas. They did not have any children that I know of.

I don't have any real good pictures of Bertha Lee Arnold, only group pictures taken at the annual Carter/Arnold family reunion.

Bertha Lee Arnold died of cancer 11 November 1994, age 56. 

She is buried with her husband in Blue Springs Cemetery, Newark, Independence County, Arkansas.
