George and Adeline Baker Thomas purchased what is now the "Thomas Family Farm" on 21 November 1853 in Bangor Township, Van Buren County, Michigan, from Simon K. Wood. At one time the farm was over 333 acres and is now 99 acres, plus 1 acre for the Thomas Cemetery. (There was a sawmill where the cemetery is now.)
