I don't have pictures of the birthday people today, so ...
I have an entire closet crammed full of Christmas ornaments we've collected over the 23 years of our marriage. Since I don't have the energy (mental or physical) to put up and decorate a big tree, or even our small trees (at our house we had a 'grove' of small trees that stayed in the living room year-round), now I just look at pictures of the ornaments and memories of years gone by...
We had subscriptions to several different kinds of ornaments -- silver, gold, Santas, angels, carousel animals... And then we just enjoyed shopping for new ornaments every year in the local stores. When we used to travel a lot, we would collect ornaments (or souvenirs that could be used as ornaments) of different places we visited. We had several ornaments from Cirque du Soleil shows that we went to in various places throughout the country -- Biloxi, Atlanta, Las Vegas, et al. And some ornaments were gifts from friends, family, co-workers, etc. I used to do theme trees - one for angels, one for santas, one for snowflakes and snow-themed ornaments, one for 'country' ornaments, etc. Each ornament has its own story, but I don't guess I'll try to tell them all right here and now. (Hmm... maybe that could be a book?)
Well, all of that was when I was young and alive. Now I live on memories. And photographs!
