This is not Cleffie's sister Irene; this is the daughter of Luvenia Barnett. 

Luvenia was the wife of Arvil and Doc Barnett's oldest brother Earl. 

John Anderson, Civil War

John was married to a sister of Jane Evans Carter. 

Jane was my great-grandmother's (Annie Hicks) grandmother.

daughter of Annie's youngest sister Etta Arnold Jackson

Bernice Hicks Bridges (may have been Rogers by the time this picture was taken), youngest daughter of Ulysses and Annie Hicks

David Anderson Hicks

Elvin and Evalee Hicks

Evalee and Cleffie. (I never noticed this before, but Ron and Beverly are hiding in the grass in this picture! Also Buck -- I think -- in the bushes behind them. It must have been taken the same day as this picture of Annie...)

In this picture you can also see Wathada and Bob in the bushes on the right.

Barbara Hicks and Elaine Hicks (wives of Olan and Lowell)

The back of this picture says: "Bett and Sarah, sisters of Adeline Carter Arnold". I wonder about this, though, because the only sister named Sarah died at age 33. There was a Mary Elizabeth (Bett?), who would have been 11 years older than Sarah. Even if Sarah (left) was 33 when this picture was taken, Elizabeth would have been 44 years old -- and she looks much older than that to me. If the woman on the left is Sarah, the child could be her youngest daughter Minnie, who was born six years before Sarah died. Here are two other pictures I have of Sarah and Elizabeth. What do you think?

Doyle Arnold, son of Marlie and Birdie (he died at age 9 from a broken arm that developed gangrene)

Martha Rhoades, daughter of Margaret Carter Rhoades (sister of my great-great-grandmother Adaline Carter Arnold)

Etta Arnold Jackson and one of her children (sister of my great-grandmother Annie Arnold Hicks)

Uncle George's girls (George Ned Arnold, brother of Annie Hicks), Arbie, Wilma, Mildred, Opie, Obie, Verlie, Joan (These were with his first wife Jessie, he had 4 more girls and a boy with second wife Eula Mae. His first child with Jessie was a boy, who died at age 7 from typhoid fever.)

Gerald Bailey Hayes (son of  Arbie Arnold Hayes)

Matilda Carter and husband Thomas Ewing Cartee (Matilda was a sister to my great-great-grandmother Adaline Carter Arnold)

 

Margaret Rhoades and 'some of hers' (I don't know if those boys are her sons or her grandsons. I think they might be sons of  her son Abner Rhoades. He had six sons, so there's no telling which ones these may be.)

Abner Rhoades. I don't know if he is on the left or the right. (Pretty sure he's not the one in the middle.) Abner was the son of Margaret Carter Rhoades.

Ellen Carter and Adaline Carter were sisters. 

 

Maud was Ellen's daughter. 

George, Ettie, Annie, and Marlie were Adaline's children.
