  Minerva Evalee Hicks was born 16 March 1922, in Judsonia, White County, Arkansas.

 

 

Evalee was the sixth child of my great-grandparents Ulysses and Annie Arnold Hicks.

Evalee Hicks married Charles Fletcher Jones, Jr. 05 June 1940 in Pangburn, Arkansas

 Charles Jones died 13 March 1995 in Watervliet, Berrien County, Michigan.

 

Hicks Ancestors - Generation 4 - Elvin Revalee Hicks

Elvin Revalee Hicks was born 08 February 1920, Judsonia, White County, Arkansas.

Elvin was the fifth of Ulysses and Annie Hicks' ten children.

Elvin served in the U.S. Navy in World War II

Elvin Hicks married Mildred Bonnell McKay 11 March 1940 in Judsonia, White County, Arkansas, daughter of Oscar Houston McKay and Gradie Barnett. She was born 04 February 1922 in Romance, White County, Arkansas, and died 09 March 1998 in Antioch, California.

 

 

Elvin and Mildred had four children - 'Junior', Jeannie, Jimmy, and Joan

 

 

 

 

Elvin Revalee Hicks died 10 December 1974, Antioch, California

 

I don't have a gravesite picture. Elvin was cremated and his ashes scattered at sea.

Mildred McKay Hicks died 09 March 1998 in Antioch, California.

 Cleffie Lorene Hicks was born 08 August 1917 in Banner, Cleburne County, Arkansas.

Cleffie was the daughter of Ulysses and Annie Arnold Hicks.

Cleffie Hicks married Lester Morris Burford 05 October 1935 in Searcy, White County, Arkansas, son of Alexander Burford and Lora Gibson. He was born 04 March 1913 in Hamlin, Cross County, Arkansas, and died 24 August 1990 in Alton, Jasper County, Illinois

Lester and Cleffie had four children:

i. Wathada Jewell Burford (my mother) 1936-2024

ii. Lester Morris Burford, Jr. (called Morris) 1939-2022

iii. Robert Neil Burford 1941- (currently living in Medellin, Colombia)

iv. Ronald Gene Burford 1944-1981

Lester Burford died 24 August 1990, age 77, in Alton, Illinois.

He is buried in Hunter Cemetery, Hunter, Woodruff County, Arkansas.

Cleffie Hicks Burford died 17 September 2004, age 87, in Watervliet, Michigan.

 She is buried in Watervliet Cemetery, Watervliet, Berrien County, Michigan.

Hicks Ancestors - Generation 4 - Zella Irene Hicks

 Zella Irene Hicks was born 06 February 1915, in Banner, Cleburne County, Arkansas

Irene was the daughter of Ulysses and Annie Arnold Hicks.

Irene Hicks married Golden ‘Doc’ Barnett 28 July 1934 in Judsonia, White County, Arkansas, son of William Calvin Barnett and Dora Quattlebaum. He was born 29 January 1914 in Romance, White County, Arkansas, and died 07 January 1982 in Campbell, Missouri.

Doc and Irene had four daughters - Velma Lee, June, Betty and Bobbie (Barbara). At this time, three of them are still living. Betty died in 2016.

Irene Hicks Barnett died 10 October 2002, age 87.

Doc Barnett died 07 January 1982, age 67.

They are buried in Stanfield Cemetery, Clarkton, Dunklin County, Missouri,
