NOTES:

[All information about Clarence and Hazel (Burford) Johnson was provided by Lois June Baird Johnson, widow of Howard Johnson.]

-- Hazel was a school teacher. She had either retired from teaching or just stopped teaching. When World War II started, she was asked to return to teaching and she did.

-- When June and Howard were dating, he would get her mother and take her over to visit his mother. Hazel told June's mother that "Garreth was the youngest, but Howard is my baby."

-- Hazel was walking down the dirt road carrying Howard. Somehow a little branch hit Howard's head. Hazel didn't say anything because she thought that if she didn't, Howard might not be upset and cry about it. In a little bit, Howard said, "B'ess his heart."

-- Clarence went to school and learned telegraphy. When he finished, they sent him somewhere out west and he was so lonely that he came back and started working as a bar tender. Then later he worked for the Highway Department.
