 Ulysses Grant Herdman was born 04 February 1867

Ulysses (called 'Les') was the husband of Belle Treat.

Belle was the sister of my great-grandfather Marcus Treat.

Even though the Herdman family was only related to our family by marriage, somehow I ended up with a lot of pictures of them. I've traced the Herdman family lineage back several generations, and in the process have acquired some rather interesting photographs from the FindAGrave website. Here are a few of them:

Robert Herdman.

He was born in 1838 in Ohio, and died in 1921 in Ohio

On the website he is listed as Pvt. Robert Herdman. He was a Civil War veteran

Robert was a cousin to John Downing and William Thompson Herdman

James Madison Herdman

James was a nephew of William Thompson Herdman and Robert Herdman. 

His wife was Cienda Brown -- hence the caption on the photograph: "Aunt Cienda & family"
