Eleven days old

 

So there's this thing in the Hicks side of the family where we take pictures of babies when they are 11 days old. I have no idea how it started or when, or why, but it seems to trace back to great-grandma Annie Arnold Hicks. Probably just coincidence, but several of her 9 children were photographed at age 11 days. The composite picture above is 4 generations -- my grandmother Cleffie, my mom Wathada, me, and my firstborn Christopher -- all taken at 11 days old. Ted Radde obit in Tri-City Record today

 THEODORE RADDE

Theodore Radde of Greeneville, TN (formerly of St. Joseph, MI) passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 in Johnson City, TN at the age of 77. Ted was born March 31, 1944 to Louis C. and Theodora (Mackus) Radde of St. Joseph.

In the early 1970s he owned a Texaco service station in Watervliet with his dad and brother. He later worked at Modar and Alreco Metals before starting T&S Auto Care where he did auto body repair and painting. In 1995 he moved to Las Vegas, NV where he worked doing armed security. In 2013 he and his wife Darlene retired to Greeneville, TN where they made their home. 

Ted is survived by his wife Darlene (Chwierut) Radde; children, Scott (Camille) Radde, Michael (Jeff) Radde, Melanie (Ted) Marvin, Rick (Jennifer) Radde and step-son Christopher Gorski; sister, Elizabeth (Guy) Arrans; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and cousins Carl Radde and Sallyanne (Chuck) Crumley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Terry Radde.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Greene County, TN Humane Society. There will be no formal services.

Ted Radde was the husband of Beverly Jones Radde -- daughter of Charles and Evalee Hicks Jones. They had four children together (Scott, Mike, Melanie, and Rick) and were later divorced.

2. Family picnic. Not sure of exactly who they all are. I think the girl on the far left is Wathada. The woman kneeling on the ground on the right is Annie, and the tall man in the hat is Ulys. Among the children are for sure Ronnie and Beverly, Buck and Bob -- not quite sure of the others. Pretty sure Vernell is sitting on the ground, and that might be Ray sitting near her, so two of the children in front of them might be Carl Ray and Velda. So... of the women standing, one must surely be Cleffie, and one Evalee (because their children are in the picture). The man bent over at the far right might be Charles Jones...? That doesn't account for everyone in the photo, but it's as close as I can come.
